We meet every Wednesday evening at 8pm in the Church Hall for our rehearsals which finish between 9.30pm and 10 pm - depending on how much the producer is panicking at the time ! We put on two productions a year - usually a pantomime at Christmas and a Cabaret type evening in the spring. Our Cabarets always include a supper - excellent value for money !

The Group has a healthy social life too with events that range from a Car Treasure Hunt, to a summer BBQ, Skittles, a Quiz Evening, Carol Singing, Ten Pin Bowling, a trip to Matlock Bath and a Christmas get-together. As you can see we are a very active and friendly group.

History of the Group

The Stage Group really has its roots back in the 1960s. At that time the Church had a thriving choir who decided to form a Concert Party primarily to provide entertainment at Shrove and Harvest suppers and that is how things continued for many years. The ambitions of the members increased and with the talent that existed it was felt that the Concert Party Group was capable of more ambitious things.

In 1973 the Concert Party formally became the current Stage Group with Officers and Committee Members elected accordingly. The Group has under the guidance of 5 Chair Persons and numerous Producers (most saying ‘never again’ - but invariably do) and various committees continued to meet new challenges. One thing that has not changed has been the values of the Group in trying to provide genuine ‘family entertainment’ with the intention of passing on the fun that we have to our audiences.

Since making our first donation the Group has donated over £10,000 to local charities from the proceeds of many of our productions. Among the charities at local level to benefit from the Group’s entertainment and the generosity of our audiences are - Macmillan Nurses, LOROS, Motor Neurone Disease Society. Multiple Sclerosis Society, Shelthorpe House, Glebe House and most recently the Leicestershire Air Ambulance.
