Baptism

Baptism and Thanksgiving services offer a great opportunity to celebrate and pray with family, friends and the wider church family for God’s blessing, support and protection as your children grow. Baptism is a sign of the beginning of a journey with God which continues for the rest of our lives. For all involved, particularly the candidates, parents and godparents, it is a joyful moment when we rejoice in what God has done in Christ, and respond in repentance and faith.

We offer Baptism services to all who feel able to, in good conscience and with integrity, make the promises contained in it. (In the case of infants, these promises are made on their behalf by their parents or guardians and godparents).

We also offer the option of having a service of thanksgiving and dedication for infants instead. This involves many of the same prayers, but is often chosen either where parents feel unsure about the promises made in baptism, or they would prefer to leave the option to be baptised with the child until later in life.

Marriage

A happy marriage is a wonderful way of life, and the start of married life together is a really important time. At The Good Shepherd we not only provide a venue for your wedding and help with the practical details, but also help you to prepare emotionally and spiritually as you take this important step. If you haven't been to church for a while and would like to visit to see what it is like, then we suggest this is a good place to start.

Funerals

A funeral marks the close of a human life on earth. It is an opportunity to remember and give thanks to God for the life of a loved one, to commit their body to be buried or cremated and to comfort one another in grief.

Normally first contact between next of kin and the member of clergy taking the funeral service will be made through the Funeral Director, with the member of clergy then contacting the next of kin directly to discuss the deceased and make practical arrangements for the service.

Please do Contact Us if you would like more information on funerals at the Good Shepherd.
